Feel the Love!

At Unleashed Joy, we have a very specific way of doing things. All of our dog training operations are managed directly by a certified, purely positive dog trainer/behavior counselor. That means no “guessing” about what dog behavior means, no outdated notions of “dominance” or showing your dog “who’s boss.” These are flawed concepts based on logically untenable research. Instead, we use purely positive training techniques that have been proven to be more effective. We apply this purely positive approach in all situations, from group classes and private training to daycare play groups and when interacting with our boarding guests.

 good dogs…

Good Homes

One of our goals at Unleashed Joy is to help good dogs stay in good homes. Every day excessive numbers of pet dogs are taken to shelters because they just never learned to communicate well with their humans, and thus never learned what was expected of them. We want to assist in helping dogs and their humans learn to better communicate with each other, creating a stronger human/canine bond to ensure a long, happy relationship. After all, don’t we have dogs in our lives for enrichment and to be a member of the family?

We teach you how to learn to communicate better with your pet by using a marker or “Clicker.” This marks the behavior that your dog does, and then is followed by a treat or toy. (Don’t worry, you won’t have to carry a clicker and treats around forever! We also teach you how to eventually fade out both.) The sound of the click travels directly to the amygdala of the brain to indicate to the dog that the behavior he just did is the one you are looking for. It is highly efficient and effective.

We strive to offer our students the most comprehensive and up to date training methods available. In using these methods, you will not only have fun with your dog, you will also feel good about what you are doing!
